Classes We Teach
At Sunshine CPR, Our classes are taught from the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Health Safety Institute (HSI) curriculums.
We offer our classes on a weekly basis or will schedule on demand upon request. We teach our classes at the Meridian location of Sawtooth Physical Therapy or will be happy to bring the class to a location of choice for groups of four or more.
If you are in need of a Skills Assessments, please contact us to make arrangements for your checkoff. We are happy to schedule appointments or work you into an existing class as needed.
When it comes to course selection, it can be confusing and frustrating if you pick the wrong class. We are here to help so please contact us if you are unsure of exactly which course you need to take. The following class descriptions should help to clarify the differences and get you into the correct class.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider (Healthcare Provider)
Basic Life Support (BLS) is available in two different training methods – blended learning and classroom training. All BLS course options teach the same AHA science-based skills and result in the same AHA BLS Course Completion Card.
BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers such as nurses. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.
If you are not a healthcare provider, we recommend you consider the Heartsaver course series.

HeartCode® BLS - Hands-on Skills Assessment Session
HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the BLS Course. HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode BLS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS Instructor or on a simulation station.

BLS Instructors Essential Course (Classroom Session)
The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is taught in a blended learning format. AHA BLS Instructor candidates must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on classroom session. Prior to taking this course, candidates must have a current BLS Provider course completion card. Candidates who successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Course, followed by course monitoring, will receive a BLS Instructor card, valid for two years. BLS Instructors are then able to teach the BLS Provider course and any course within the Heartsaver portfolio.

Heartsaver® CPR/AED
The Heartsaver® course is designed to prepare students to provide CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) use in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Heartsaver courses are intended for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.
Cost: $60.00 (Includes Course Workbook)
Heartsaver® First Aid
Heartsaver® First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.
*This course may be added to the Heartsaver CPR/AED course or taught as a stand alone class.

Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
This course teaches students to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or an infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course is intended for those involved in child care who have a duty to respond to children's health emergencies, including child-care workers, teachers, foster-care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations, and coaches for children's sports organizations. This course is also ideal for parents, grandparents, babysitters, and guardians.

Heartsaver CPR/AED - Skills Assessment
The American Heart Association offers a "Blended Learning" option to obtain your Heartsaver Certification. The blended learning course combines an Online learning component with a hands on practice and testing session with an instructor. The Online component may be purchased directly from the Americian Heart Association and completed on your own time. To obtain your card, you will print your Course Certificate and bring it to your Skills Assessment Session which will include mannequin practice and a skills assessment test.

Heartsaver Instructors Essential Course (Classroom Session)
The Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Course is taught in a blended-learning format. AHA Heartsaver instructor candidates must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on classroom session.
Candidates who successfully complete the Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Course, as well as course monitoring, will receive a Heartsaver Instructor card, valid for two years. Heartsaver Instructors are then able to teach all courses within the Heartsaver portfolio.

HSI CPR/AED (2020)
ASHI CPR and AED is designed specifically for individuals, and is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting. This extremely flexible program will help prepare individuals to respond to a cardiac arrest and choking. This program conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.
Blended Learning Option: $18.00 (Online Class) + $25.00 (Skills Assessment) = $43.00
Instructor Led Class: $50.00 (Includes E-Book)
HSI CPR/AED and First Aid (2020)
ASHI CPR, AED and Basic First Aid combination training provides students a hands on educational experience as a comprehensive training class. The program helps develop basic first aid knowledge and skills, and the confidence to respond. CPR, AED and Basic First Aid combination training is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, and the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid. Approved for Certified Family Homes in the state of Idaho.
Blended Learning Option: $23.00 (Online Class) + $25.00 (Skills Assessment) = $48.00

HSI Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid
ASHI Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid training program provides an ideal training solution for schools, child care providers, youth sports coaches and others required to learn how to respond to medical emergencies involving children and infants. This versatile program is based upon the 2015 CPR and First Aid Guidelines, Caring for Our Children, 3rd Ed; and other evidence-based treatment recommendations. Approved for Boise Childcare Providers
